one of a kind cluster mod
Well, it was kind of a necessity. These are pictures of the prototype. My Faze morphers kept crapping out and not really being blue like the rest of all my instrument/atc/evic lighting. So I did this instead. Already installed in the car and tested. waiting for nightfall to truly test it. Still need to produce a design for the temp and fuel gages.
There are 3 3volt blue LED's behind each cover. Mounted to the back of the gauge and reflecting off the cover back onto the gauge face.
I bring you....
THE ECLIPSE CLUSTER
I made the covers out of wood, bondo-glass, 3m double sided foam tape, LED holders (had to PVC glue them in because the plastic bezel was too thick) and some roof flashing.

My main problem with people on this site. They will view a hundred times..and never offer any encouragement, or at least criticism.

If you have adobe, and acess to a laser printer. you print white faces on transparency, and mount some blue LEDs where the original lights in the circuit board are.
nice idea though, I like it

If I am not mistaken, that would mean cutting the entire stock gauge face out El sheet, and plastic and everything to make this work? then having to remount the gauge needle thingy. the EL sheet, nor the black backing are translucent.
The only lights in the circuit board are for the indicator lights and are soldered to the board, exception being the cruise, turn signals, high beam, and trac on indicators - I did this to rid me of all my EL sheet and power supply problems.
I may have misunderstood. but just to be clear, this is a 300M cluster.

Yes, they are wired to the illumination wire on the clock, the LED's dim with the rest of the instruments (evic, radio, ATC, cluster displays)

I like the idea, just not the exicution. The large white disk in the center looks out of place, in my opinion. If you want the dials blue, why not just have a couple of LED's (one) shine on each of the guages. You would just need to aim it at the guages, the white would light up blue the black surrounding areas would be black.

Is it possible you could attempt this mod on a first gen intrepid cluster? I would be willing to buy one if you were to do that. Once I get my car fixed and once I get some money coming in that is...
