(This is my 3rd “American” car. Previous was Stratus 2000 and Sebring 2001.)
And I haven’t door courtesy lamps in my SE version.
OK! Let’s try to install it!
Remove driver’s door trim panel.
Remove 2 screws by TORX 30 and rubber “thing”.
At FIRST remove rubber boot.
Remove it MANUALLY! No flat screwdriver! You may destroy plastic connector, like me…
Now You see 2 clips. Press on it to release. Other 2 clips on the other side. To locate them – very difficult…
Trying remove connector VERY accuracy. If You destroy these clips, water may flow through rubber boot inside the car!
Remove connector C301 and look on the “pink” wire (point
A). OK! This is first wire from two we need.
But we can’t find the other, "yellow" wire, on the C300 connector (point
B)
Under the door trim panel we find the “pink” on the power mirror switch connector and power door lock switch connector. You must connect to this “pink” wire your first wire and route it to courtesy lamp location.
Let’s find the other, the “yellow” wire.
We find it in the junction block. (The red square position)
Install the courtesy lamp. (I can't find the original lamp, and used this from Russian car.)
Now we need find a simply route from lamp inside the car.
OK! We’ll see 2 little holes in the C300 connector. (Points
A or
B)
Now we need to route this wire in the junction block. Lift the door seal and look on the hole
A.
I used 2mm. string for lawn trimmer.
Be patient with this work! :-) You must to be a lucky to catch string in the hole
B! :-)
Connect wire and string (point
C)
(Don’t forget! You must previous route this wire through the rubber boot and through the hole in the C300 connector!)
OK! Now You may to connect this, second, wire to the “yellow” wire on the connector and check your light working!
Fasten 2 new wires to the wire harness very accurately. I’d show this by red points.
OK!
Now remove the passenger’s door trim panel.
The “pink” wire we see on the power door lock switch connector.
Trying to find the nearest “yellow” wire.
I’d find this wire only in an overhead console. If You find the nearest connection point – tell me, please.
Using your fingertips, grasp the sides of the overhead console and pull straight down evenly to disengage the two snap clips at the rear of the unit. Lower the overhead console far enough to access the wire harness connectors.
And now, like a driver door: route wire inside door trim panel, through the rubber boot, through the white plastic connector and through hole
A to
B….
Remove instrument panel right end cap. Disengage clips attaching trim to A-pillar by pulling on trim. Slide A-pillar trim rearward, to disengaging from instrument panel top cover. Remove A-pillar trim from vehicle. (Wire route pointed by "red")
Route wire under the roof cover by the windshield edge, and through point
A to
B with the string.
Fasten 2 new wires to the wire harness very accurately, like the driver's door.
Enjoy!
