Ignore the rat's nest of wires on the trunk floor, that was for prototyping only.

Coming along, slowly. It's damn cold to be working in the unheated garage right now.........

Need to get some wire standoffs to neaten the runs a little further. Maybe I'll turn out some nice aluminum pieces. I'm thinking kind of like the wire loom you can buy for ignition wires. I like things neat and tidy. Occupational hazard I guess (aircraft technician, we like things to stay where they're put and very organized)
I also need to get some solder on 8 gauge wire end terminals to replace the crappy crimp on ones you see in the picture. I forgot to pick them up the other day and I had the crimp on ones in the garage...........

About the inverter, nessesary evil to run the pentium. If I get induced noise, I may try a couple chokes on the power wires.

I must be limbering up too. It's getting alot easier to get in and out of the trunk!

Pioneer gm6200 amp came today too! Damn weekend is never going to get here.

Amps are in, speakers are in (more or less, more wiring to be done),
Unfortunately, the amp rack itself is still raw mdf, I may get a little closer to finishing this weekend......

I got some sail speaker housings from TFC (thanks Ross, you're the best!) and put the tweets there and the mids in the lower door. Careful positioning and it sounds great! I hear sounds in the music I never knew where there. Whole new experience!

i reworked the dash slighty. I had o move the heater controls to the cubby area and joined the opening for the radio and heater area to make room for the touch screen and slot load dvd.

*Update 10 May 07*
Carputer is in a cut down and mounted in a new, fabricated 18 gauge case. Nobody's stealing that sucker either (well, unless they have an impact gun!), I welded studs to the body, and bolted 'er down! Made for a great ground too! Cleared a ground loop problem I was having in prototyping right up!
Stopped into the local yard and picked up al the trunk material out of a wrecked intrepid so I can cover the carputer case and amp rack in matching material. 10 bucks later and a little ripping, I was on my way with more than enough material.

And I have a useable trunk again! Thank goodness, that mess was driving me up the wall! I was ashamed to have people in the car.

Future Plans

Suspension mods to "tighten her up" (no lowering, I drive this car every day). Probably just source out some more R/T 300m/special pieces.

Possibly Boyd Smoothie II wheels, no bigger than 17". I'm really picky about rim choice and appearance. It may be difficult for me to find exactly what I want.

Thinkin about dual exhaust. Nothing gaudy though, probably along the lines of Bigred's system but with the stock oval single pipe tips tucked in at about the stock location.



I like it, goes very nicely with the vehicle. Same look I'm after.

Look good!!! Any more progress on the amp rack BJ ?? Curious, looks like the hinges in the back are what holds it up??? What kind of hinges are they??

Still in progress........

Hinges are standard spring loaded cabinet hidden hinges. There's two pins that hold the rack in the closed position.

I may get fancy at sometime in the future and use a linear actuator to raise and lower it. Not high on my "to do" list right now.
