I own a 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T with the 2.7 w/135K on it. I have read your thread "Info for 2.7 owners". I have recently ran into the problem with it over heating and seeing the coolant boiling in the reservoir. Not knowing a whole lot about this engine I changed the thermostat thinking that would fix it but no it didn't. Now the questions I have would using Block Tester Combustion Leak Test still have a positive reaction if the water pump is bad? Also is the water pump replacement just as costly as replacing the head gaskets? Lastly, and I apologize for the questions, is it worth spending $1000 - $1500 on it if they need to be replaced?

Hey I've been on dodgeintrepid.net from day one of having my car and i've been following your information for a really long time and i have a huge favor to ask because everyone i talk to is other clueless about intrepid engines or wants more and more money from me and i just wanna get this done so i can get back on the road as fast as i can ... my car is currently down right now from what i believe is the water pump ( http://youtu.be/rteZvWfG2Lg ) < video was taken last night im not sure when it got so bad i just replaced my cracked radiator and starter last week and now another HUGE leak on top of that and my car started to stall 2 seconds after turning it on as well which just started this past Thursday ...i'm not sure if this engine is COMPLETELY done or still savable or should i do a 2.7 to 3.5 conversation?

    hey,
hoping you have input/experience on diagnostic testing on my 99 intrepid 3.2. Stalling. manual says 5.0 volts is the reference check at the crankshaft position sensor, but I'm getting 9.02 volts. Other references found refer to a voltage of 8.0 volts....so somewhat confused since I don't have access to reliable data...Factory Service Manual???? Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks for reading!

Daytrepper: Greetings from Ohio! Am fairly new to the site and love it. Was browsing photos and am absolutely in love with the Daytona Paint scheme, not to mention all of the other sick mods! Was the paint scheme ever an option from the factory on the 04 Daytona Edition?

Just joined your site. Naturally, I'm Looking for some help. I do like these cars and this is my 6th Intrepid!!
This one is a "02 with a bad 3.5. Excluding a 2.7, can anyone tell me what other engines will swap into this car? According to the interchange books, it's 02 only and everybody wants a fortune for them. I can't find any good information on the subject.
I don't care if it's a gen1- 3.3 or a 04 HO. I just need a decent engine at a affordable price. I don't mind making some reasonable modifications or necessary module swaps.
Haven't figured how to post to all so I'm posting to you. Maybe you can forward it on.
    Thanks in advance.

thanks. i also have a question about the harness to the 3.2. i ran the harness through the fender under the dash and noticed that there is one less plug into the fuse panel than the 2.7 harness had. upon further investigation of the 98 trep i saw the missing plug is coming from under the dash somewhere. whats the trick to that. its been bugging me for days now haha.

What's up daytrepper: I have an '01 intrepid with the 2.7 engine. It's spun a rod bearing at 111k miles.
I'm contemplating doing the bottom end (engine out of course), including crank kit and new rod. With
that many miles, what else should I consider replacing?
