How To: Trailer Wiring Guide
Here is a quick reference to the colour codes of the signal lights for the first generation cars.
I ended up cutting the connectors out of a car at the wreckers, and, soldering them back-to-back with the trailer wires, so that I wouldn't have to splice into my car's wiring (As shown in Picture) - plug and play. These connectors are in the back corners of the trunk, behind the lining where the side and back parts meet...right in front of where the lights are.
The violet wire is left unconnected, I believe it's the backup lights. The wiring harness for the signal lights is the same on both sides of the car; you have to run a wire across the trunk for the other turn signal. As well, this means the colour code on the left does not match up, and the light green wire (left turn) is connected to the tan wire (turn signal light on each side) at the drivers side connector.
In Car Wiring
black/yellow - parking lights
white/tan - brake lights
light green - left turn
tan - right turn
black - ground
Trailer Connector:
Green - Right Turn
Yellow - Left Turn
White - Ground
Brown - Parking Lights
