They have the bubble level and 1,0% markings on the top. The tabs are metal reinforced also.

Do the backs of your lights look like this? Do they have plastic retaining rings holding the bulbs in? Just twist the retainer and remove it and just pull the bulb straight out. That's much better than the Intrepid aftermarket lights where you have to force the bulb into the housing and twist it to lock it.

I'm not really bitching these lights seem to be of better quality than anything for the Intrepids. I was hoping to get something identical to what you received after your glowing report on them is all. I put some D2S HID bulbs in and the beam pattern isn't the best but they don't have any of the "hot" spots above center horizontal like the Spyder projectors. This is a pic against the living room wall but it gives you an idea of the pattern. I've got 9006 based bulbs coming so that beam pattern may change due to a change on where the gas capsule is located along the length of the bulb itself. Remember this picture is with a D2S based bulb.

My headlights have the retaining collars that you twist into place to lock them in.
Much more sturdy IMO.
I will have to get some pics of the light dispersal patterns of the TYC's.

I got the 9006 based HID bulbs in today. Checked the postion of the of the gas capsule on the D2S and 9006 HID bulbs vs the location of the filament in a standard 9006 halogen bulb. The location of the D2S bulb is different than the halogen 9006. The location of the 9006 HID is the same as the 9006 halogen bulb filament.

I'm sure this will affect the beam pattern because of the location of the light source and it's distance from the reflectors. Installed the 9006 based HID bulbs and will check the beam pattern. Pictures later.

Preliminary investigation by firing up the 9006 based HID bulbs indicates a much better beam pattern. It's all about the distance of the light source from the reflectors(and the Benjamins !). Pics later when it gets darker so a decent comparison can made vs my first post with the D2S bulbs.

These headlights might be a good candidate for a Morimoto Bi-Xenon mini projector mod!

Hot spot at center but cutoff is pretty good. Not much above the center line. Definitely a good deal for the price.

And here's the bulbs for comparison. I tried to keep the bases of all the bulbs close to the relative position of where they would mount in the headlight housing.

Standard halogen 9006 base bulb on the left, 9006 based HID bulb in the center and a D2S HID bulb on the right. You can see the halogen and 9006 base HID bulbs have their light sources about the same distance from the base. (Halogen Filament/HID Gas capsule). The D2S HID bulb has it's gas capsule closer to the base than the others changed the focal point to the reflector in the housing. These dimensions are critical for a good headlight beam.

SO.....Ron you would recommend these lights with a rebased 9006 HID bulb to others? Or do you need to wait till mounted and tested in the car?

I need to buy new lights for our M....they are getting pretty foggy again.

Until I get them in the car and adjusted..can't really say anything. The pattern on the wall makes me think there won't be any issues though.

Mine too. I was gonna polish them but discovered a broken mounting tab on the worst one. I think a used one will cost me $40 or so, so why not go for new? Also, how many more $$ would a guy need for the HID set-up?

Take a look at RockAuto. They have the TYC units for $55/side (no levelers). I just rec'd a set for my Intrepid and those do have the levelers. About $76 each, also TYC through R/A. Completely changes the look of the car and the light output is impressive.

I checked out Rock Auto. Good pricing and reasonable shipping to Canada, yet! (by mail, not UPS who charge large brokerage fees) Anyone else with experience of this brand?
