My M's First Engine Oil Analysis In Over 3 Years....
Changed the oil prior to starting this job in Georgetown, KY. Captured the sample and sent it off to Blackstone Labs....
I was driving in what you would call Severe Duty (less than 5 miles a day, 1.9 miles one way to work while I was in WI)
Now, I am driving 130 miles a day (65 miles one way)
Any thoughts??

Will be interesting to see the difference with the long commute. I expect the good temp and long run should bring some of those numbers down to more normal ranges. Getting all systems warmed up and humming Should be very helpful.
One thing I've tried to do is keep consistent fuel supply. 99% I only fuel two gas stations in my car's entire history unless I am outside my normal operations range.
If ever I develop any fuel related problem I pretty much know where it came from.

Did you switch to Royal Purple when you changed the oil this time?

Trying this to see if properly venting the crankcase will ease the oil consumption in my car.

Blackstone Labs are awesome. I recommend them to my Can Am race car guys, and they have found it to be quite useful in knowing how the engines are doing and when a rebuild may be do. And since alot of them live in the Fly In, aka private airport they started using them on their planes as well which is a HUGE deal for those engines.
I have a sample headed out soon.
Have you read their newsletters any?

FWIW, I checked the oil this morning, and it was closer to 8ozs. short, not a full quart.
Could have been the filter absorbing oil....
