R.I.P. My intrepid (my baby) :/
Yup, that's right, she's dead :/
Rod knocking, sure I could rebuild for a lot cheaper than a new car, but I don't have the time and a need a car immediatly because I'm a full time student with 2 part time jobs..... I really wish I could keep her, I love the car to death, but again we don't have the time really to rebuild, at least not all at once.... Hell we got a lot out of it for how much we paid ($300 not $3000, but $300)
That being said, we are going to be stripping the whole car down and selling it to the scrap yard with the aluminum and copper seperate from the rest, we think we'll get around $600-700 outta it which is, again, double what we paid. I'll also be pulling the fuel pump and the radiator (both under a year old) to put on craigslist to try to get a little cash from them.
Now the good, while I hate 2 doors, and Honda's, I've found a pretty clean, non-ricey, JDM h22a 1994 prelude around here, so with the money from the intrepid, the excess money from my pell grant this summer, and $100/month payments to my grandfather, we'll probably get it for $4000-4250 it's listed on craigslist ad $4500 and has $4900 on the windshield at the used car dealership that it's at. The body has 180K miles, but the motor/trans has around 50K on it. It does have an exhaust, but definitely not ricey (I had them start it up and rev it earlier today just to make sure) the passenger side seat has a hole in it, but they are about to get it fixed, no dents, a couple scratches on the trunk but it looks to be all original paint by looking at the door jambs....
There is not much at all on the craigslist ad, just the price and number and mentioning the motor info.... But here's a photo
Also if there is anything anyone needs off the 97 3.3 before we strip it and haul it off, just let me know.... I'll tell you now though, I /WILL/ be owning another intrepid in the future, I really loved the car, and want another, but there are none with good prices here for sale.....

Sucks to hear...
I still can't see why anyone would pay that kind of money for a 20 year old Honda. You could buy one a lot newer for tgat kind of money. Think about the insurance value. If it gets wrecked or motor blows you'll be up shit creek.

suucks to hear dude...hard to complain about getting decent service from a 300 dollar car. And yeah, an 18 year old clearly riced out (fart cannon, black hood, how is that NOT rice?) and dead tired honda poolude for 4500 bucks? holy crap. I'd think about paying half that for whats in the picture. I mean wow. Will. Talk some sense into the man. And double shame on you for using government grants to buy a car.

I'll sell my 2000 R/T for $3995! Less than 90k miles and no fart cannon. Paint on the hood matches the rest of the car. PS2.

I see 2nd gen Intrepids/Concordes with the 3.5 going for about 4200-4400 all the time!
Get on Craigslist and check the Atlanta GA area!! Its only a couple hours drive, and if its at least somewhat close by I wouldnt mind going to take a look

Believe it or not, it's not a fart cannon, it sounds NOTHING like one, I told the guy straight up that he had to start and rev it once I saw that, because I told him if it sounded ricey that it was a complete deal breaker, and the hood does match the car, it's just the angle, hold on I'll upload the shitty cell phone picture from yesterday LOL About the ricest thing about it are the "I <3 my Honda" Stickers on it, which aren't in retarded places and don't stand out like the decals everyone puts all over their windshields.
And we already know they'll go less than that for it, I've talked to them about it. Like I said I hate Honda's and I hate 2 door cars (with a few exceptions) but I need a car, and I need it quick. I honestly need one today, which may happen after I take my grandfather to look at it. Plus as soon a I lose weight to join the air force I get my grandfather's MKZ, I have to pick up the payements on it, so this car, is really just a car to hold me over until I get out of college and into the military, and I also need to save gas as much as possible, which this one will do...
And of course the MKZ for the Hell of it.

My family hated the car, if I had the cash straight up I'd look into it, but since my grandfather is buying it and I'm paying him back it has to be something else. Trust my I tried for an M with 90K on it and clean as hell for $4950 he wouldn't go for it.
Like I said I really just need a car now, and I know he won't mind for that one. Plus Honda's run forever so when I join the military I could just pass the Honda to my little brother.

I believe your family hated THAT car - specifically... I'm betting they would find one that is in good condition much more acceptable.

Sucks to be under someone else's handout - but I understand the need to take what you can get... Perhaps you can find an alternate source of transportation (city bus or bicycle) till you have saved the money to get a car that is actually worth it?

Maybe it wasn't the M that is the problem, maybe it is the fact a dealership was trying to sell a car for $5K - maybe if say, you saw Ron's Special for only $4K, private party sale, it would be a much more attractive deal, and coming from a human being, not a blood sucking dealer, it would actually be WORTH what is being asked...
I think it is all in how you spin it...

This specific car was being built by the previous owner. It has a JDM imported h22a, the one that puts out 217 hp stock, and the car has a racing cam on it. The guy was building it to be a sleeper but didn't have the money anymore so he sold it to a used car lot.

They specifically told me they didn't even want to look at it because it was on the intrepid's platform. And it wasn't a dealer, it was an actual person selling their car. The Honda is at a used car lot, but not a buy here pay here type scam place, it's one where they family buys the cars and sells them, if you don't have the money you don't get the car unless you get a loan elsewhere. That's why they'll have cars sitting there for a while.
Also I live 25 miles away from work and both school campuses (I go to a community college that has a campus in Decatur, AL and Huntsville, AL and I happen to go to both and live in Harvest, AL) There are no buses/public transportation that come all the way out here. And 25 miles is too far to bike, especially when sometimes I have to get on the interstate if I have class in Decatur, then work in Huntsville. Also my paychecks between both jobs don't even equal up to full time minimum wage, so saving would take much much longer. The way we're going to do it, is my grandfather buys it straight up, and I'm gonna be paying him $100 a month, sometimes more if I get a good check, for it until I've paid what he's paid for it.
And honestly guys, why am I getting flamed for this? The intrepid died and I need a car, and I need it fast, the Honda is reliable, and good on gas. Which is something I really need now, I really don't like Honda's, or 2 door cars, but this one is actually nice, especially for how old it is. I mean I thought you guys were much better than this, my car died and I get flamed for it just because I'm going to probably be getting a Honda to replace it because my family wouldn't let me try to fix the trep or anything.

Probably because you spent Pell Grant money on a car... Just kinda guessing...
And the fact that it IS 'riced'... Denial isn't just a river in Egypt my friend...

It's your money but the part in bold kinda bothers me.
I came in here with an open mind (Still do) on what you are saying, and other than the bold part, judgement won't be passed just yet..
