Houston, I think I found the problem.

It saves a ton of wear and tear on the engine to floor it maybe once every 2-3 years, not just because of a punk a$$ in the civic.

3.5 ho call for premum gas not reg. When gas was 4.00 gallon had to use reg. Notices drop in millage

I was reading in the owners manual and it said not to use premium fuel. I tried it once though, didn't affect my mileage a whole lot.

No, it doesn't.

The only LH that was recommended to run premium was the Special (states so in the manual), which was presumably so do to the PCM.

I tried premium a few times and didn't notice any difference when I had the R/T.

not sure i under stand this question just right but if you car is wasting more fuel than supposed to check all the co2 sensors thats prob it

If your thinking of putting in an autostick i have everything you need but the guage cluster. I bought a 99 300 for parts and am going to pick it up shortly, I live out by Kakabeka Falls so there would be no shipping costs

O2 sensors are fine. Good suggestion though. And thanks for the offer Wavemaker, but im going to try and get all the parts from the same car. Just to make things easier on myself.

Another noobish question. Whats a PCM? Is it like an ECU for the car? And what is it thats special about the ones in the Interceptor Intrepids?

The PCM is the engine(ECU) and transmission computer(TCM) combined into one.The interceptors had a higher speed limiter but I would not suggest a swap with one of those. The wiring in a Police Trep. is a bit different than a standard model so you will run into some issues. Your best bet is to go to a 300M Special PCM with a set of gears for better acceleration. A plus to the gears is better city gas millage since the engine doesn't work as hard to get the car moving, you lose some on the highway though.

Am I understanding this correctly? You're saying it's a benefit to the motor to rev up every now and again? I've heard this before as it applied to BMW, but didn't understand why. Can someone explain?

Though that makes sense, Chrylser refers to it as the PCM in all the 2nd gen. FSM's whether separate from the TCM in the pre'02 or combined with the TCM for '02 and up.

Same goes with diesels as well. In my experience with many cars I have removed upper intakes on. "Grandma" cars always had alot more buildup on the intake and valves vs I drive like its a corvette cars. We had a guy come in once with a Jetta Diesel,, he just drove it 5 miles to work and back and really nothing else. He complain over the past year his MPG been going down and the car not having any power. His intake was clogged requiring long soak in part cleaner and a nifty steel brush. Told him to actually drive the car, let it warm up and take it on the highway every once in a while to clean it out.


For what it is worth, This is basically my personal opinion based on what I have seen. I have no scientific evidence to back it up. However I know I drive my car spiritedly and my intake and valves remain pretty dang clean.

The gears i have seem to be pretty balanced considering the amount of time i do spend on the highway. 20km everyday at the minimum. With swapping in the 300M Special PCM, will the affect my performance in any way? What kind of changes could i expect to see in my mileage?
