new 300m exhaust
Well I'm looking for a new exhaust set up that is affordable but decent sounding. I don't want a ricer sounding exhaust. More so deep. Any suggestions or personal preferences?
Also this is a base 300m exhaust set up unless the platinum series has something special I do not know about.

Well the problem is actually finding the special dual exhaust because I live in the middle of nowhere. I'd rather just try and build up a custom exhaust. My state doesn't have any emissions testing as well as I have only ever seen one 300m special and that was over 400 miles away, but I'll look into it I guess.

My favorite exhaust was You'd from two years ago. Cut the center muffler/resonator and back, off the car. Right from the down pipes (with cats still installed), install an "X" pipe. From there install two glass packs (one each side), and then run duals to the back corners. Right before the exit under the bumper, install two small turbo mufflers. Add exhaust tips, call it done. Use 2" pipe.
I thought it had great rumble when you got in it, but was respectable at idle. I don't think Tom had any droning at speed either.

Sounds awesome, but I need something that I would be able to look at and check out some prices on because I don't specifically have the resources to make the exhaust myself nor do I have the knowledge. I was hoping someone knew of a complete exhaust system I could buy other then the 300m special exhaust due to the rarity in my area.

You got an exhaust shop around? Shouldn't be that much money for the pipe bending...

Well not being mechanically inclined I can only somewhat imagine what you are talking about. I will have to head over to the exhaust shop and see what they could do. My local mechanic said he would do it for me if I got the exhaust myself so yeah that's what I was going off of.

Ah - gotcha.
So - custom exhaust work - any regular exhaust shop - Midas, Boubon, Mineky, Professional Muffler, will stock some standard exhaust parts that just bolt on - the parts your mechanic was talking about - but they will also have a pipe bending machine (probably the pipe crushing kind, not the mandrel bending kind, but don't worry about that for now) that they can use to bend straight sticks of pipe into the custom shapes that they also stock on the shelf.
They will have a bending card on the machine that they can follow to take the pieces to bend into stock shapes, or they can ignore the card, and bend what ever shape they want. A guy that's done it for a while can make up a custom dual exhaust in no time flat, blind folded with one hand tied behind his back... these guys can make up a dual exhaust some times for only $100 plus the cost of what ever muffler you buy.
So, you'll need to talk to some shops and see who bends what and how. Then look around for some custom 2nd gen exhaust. ShadowVox6 has a good thread that I kinda explained above. You could even show those pictures to the exhaust shop guy along with your car to get an estimate.
