my exhaust system is a 2.5" with a magnaflow mufller single in / dual out

like this:

i recently remove the front resonator on my Intrepid 2.7L because it was broken and i put a homemade "Y" pipe but now the sound is awfull... IMO (before sound was very deep and growly, now it sound more like ricers...) so i was asking myself if i put back an original Dodge Intrepid front resonator or if i put something else (another magnaflow or a glasspack, etc...)... ?

thought about getting rid of the resonator but kept it OEM instead, it sounds very nice deep rumble and doesn't attract unwanted attention (noise laws in Ontario). I would say for cost go with OEM but aftermarket would work also.

Yep. My homemade "Y" was the exact same way. Still did it later when I tried to go back to a single exhaust and put my Y in after a H pipe. I ended up bending my H and made a smoother, better Y. Still didn't do a thing. There's a weird resonance in the exhaust where both sides come together.

A 2.5" Magnaflow oval glass pack took care of it nicely. Their glass packs are straight through perforated tubes so they flow nicely. My car has that with a Flowmaster 40 in the very back. I have a nice deep grumble at lower rpm and more of a v8 sound when I step into it. And NO MORE RASP!

I'd recommend the Magnaflow right after a good Y
