96 Concorde Clunking noise
I have a 96 chrysler concorde with the 3.3L V6 engine. With my foot on the brake when I shift into reverse it makes a clunking noise. When I go from reverse to drive it makes a clunking noise and I can't figure out what it is??? I have replaced the motor mounts, trans mount, inner and outter tie rod ends, CV axles, struts, all 4 sub frame bushings, steering rack, end links and sway bar bushings. Any help would be appreciated the car runs great other then that and only has 75,000 miles on it.

Could be a mount or, worst case, sloppy gear mesh in the final drive. My company car did that a year and they never did fix it. I'd look at the mounts first.

What type of trans mount did you use for a replacement? OEM is best, as the aftermarket ones are garbage. Also, be sure to check your trans fluid.

They sure do, I sent mine back after about 5 months, if that. My anchor motor mounts are still holding up, surprisingly.

Motor mounts were replaced and the trans mount was replaced with OEM. Trans fluid was good but the differential fluid was down a few ounces so I topped it off and the noise only happens every once in a while now.

Might as well just drain it out and replace with fresh diff. fluid. I wonder if it is leaking somewhere, though?

You've done a lot of work but, I have one question. Does this clunk travel up the steering column? Perhaps you have a loose joint at the rack rag joint?
