I already posted on someones post and got answered. But have a question on the timing belt.
It's a 01 trep with a 3.2 that has under 40k. Being beyond the seven year limit as I read there was a time limit thats not shown in the manual and now don't want to start it up.
I plan on getting it replaced in january as funding is not to good now, I don't drive it much (as you can see ) as I have a truck and two motorcycles that I drive, tradeing off between the truck and car.
My question is do you think I could use it for very few and short trips until january or am I pushing my luck? Also, with under 40k should I have the waterpump done also?
Its time to trade the truck for the trep but after reading don't want to but need to run it.
It's a gamble of course but you should be okay, no guaranties for sure though. As far as the water pump goes, if yours is in good condition( no signs of leaks) then I would keep it in. Aftermarket waterpumps are garbage for these cars. Even the Mopar pump isn't the greatest since they canceled the factory pump in favor of a V-line model.
I saw some drops after a two day set in my driveway last week. Since the usual suspect is the water pump, I took the liberty of buying a new pump and belt and the seals behind the water pump housing for insurance. Raised the car and was ready to crack a hose loose when I noticed the thermostat gasket had been the source all along.
So the point I'm at is you should be OK as long as you don't have a leak showing already.
Do I feel lucky???.... no... If it was not for bad luck l have no luck at all, so its going to get done this month. I know it would last but with my luck it would not, so I called the stealer and will be done in a next week. I also have a pass fan thats doa and haveing them replace the unit.
Would have done it myself but my back will not let me bend over for any amount of time, getting old is hell.
