I just realized the Dell Optiplex Intel Core 2 Duo I've been using here in the basement is actually smaller than the 20" Flatscreen Dell monitor attached to it. It's a bad-ass Win 7 machine though with just 4 gigs of memory in the SFF body. It seems to rip along quite well.

I've got "8" on the laptop upstairs. Well, Actually it 8 Beta and has been for some months now. (Are they going to terminate the beta anytime soon?).
Anyway, 8 forced me to upgrade to Explorer v.10 which is not compatible with the Chrysler website. They are so entrenched in older Explorer versions it ain't even funny. I have contemplated loading this $35 dollar full version of 8 on the laptop and giving the whole thing to a family member who would benefit from the design of 8's GUI. (Since the install of the 8 beta required me to flush all the previous OS details when I installed it).
7 is where it's at for me for now...

Please pass this message on to him for me: FAIL!!
But you can't beat free! Just ask Devan (EAGLEESI) I need to get some of his tactics myself for a touch display!
I am now learning the hard way that you should not attempt to install an OS after 6PM! Now I am installing SP3 for Media Center Edition.

See with the way I have the Tower setup, you have to use the CD drive for everything (it does have USB 2.0 though, and I think 2 Firewire ports [ LOL I am sitting right next to it, but am too lazy to get up and look!]) and SP3 is the only way to go with Media Center Edition.

i see....to me usb is the more considerable way to go...disk drive is just to big and loud...not to mention you always worry about dirtying the lens...so in that case...i use Power ISO and for packing/unpacking and virtual drives

Well, considering the number of drive I have, I don't worry about ruining one (of course I don't put things in there that might hurt the lens, like my brother did many years back with a chocolate chip cookie) but should there be a problem, I just put a different one in there until I can fix the other. I still use flash drives though, now that I have my USB card working again.

here's a notebook that i use some around home.Has XP w/sp3. presario V2000 was given to me free with most of the keys gone from the keyboard. ordered replacement for like under 25$ and time it took to R&R it. you'll notice that keyboard is grey think the oem was a white color. battery was going south so replaced it with largest one that i could find. has like 10400 Mah. items upgraded : 1.maxed memory to 2gb of 2700 sodimm. 2. Battery 3. latest version of bios
think it's like 5+ yrs old but first one I've owned.
