Stripped hole
While changing the hoses and thermostat I stripped one of the bolt holes(using a 1/4 ratchet, go figure) for the thermostat housing, I was wondering what or how to fix this. I don't think there is enough metal to insert a helicoil maybe tap to the next size...any ideas would be appreciated

I know nothing of your location you are working in, but perhaps I can be of assistance with THIS followed by THIS?
Also, you can possibly use a longer bolt and get to deeper threads, or you could possibly drill it deeper and tap it for the original threads?

Going up is probably a good solution and the easiest. Keep in mind it's metric, so a possible solution is a slightly bigger imperial sized bolt.

I think the original size is 6 x 1.0. You can probably do a 7 or even an 8 without much problem. What size is that motor again? 3.5L?

My dad and I made it from some metric hardware and a piece of wire that came from an old church organ (small electric) that I took apart once.
We have since made a second one for a car I was working on for my sister.

It's a 2.7 and I think a seven would work, just need to remove the alternator in order to get strait into the hole to cut new threads.

Ugh! You have my sympathy. The 2.7 alternator is no fun to R&R - BTDT.

I removed the fans, belt, then the 3 bolts & took a 1/2" three foot bar place on top and a couple hits and she dropped down, now I need to get a proper size bolt and make sure I have the correct tap.
I'm getting pretty good at working on the cooling systems as I just replaced the rad in my 2001 last week.

I was able to thread a bolt(6 x 1.0) that is about 1/2 inch longer and snug it up. I don't know what else is stripped out on this car (Seems a "Shade Tree" mechanic had his hands all over it and didn't know crap about it)
