I don't understand the high failure rate of these mounts on these cars. As far as I know, none of the other Monroe strut mounts have this many defects. I wonder what makes these cars so "special".

This is a strange one, its hard to say what is causing the bind between the spring, mount, and bearing, resulting in the breakage. The aftermarket struts seem to be the worst culprits.....

I don't imagine there are plates made of a more durable material? Any in the aftermarket might find?
