I would bet good odds on a bad camshaft sensor. I had similar problem with '02 Intrepid 2.7L two summers ago. I checked the wiring and then ended up hooking camshaft sensor up to o-scope and it was pretty dead. Tossed in a new camshaft posiiton sensor from carquest and now 20k miles later I haven't had a single time when it wouldn't start.

I had a similar problem with my cruise control as well. It would sporadically cutout when I was cruising down the highway, eventually got so bad it would cutout immediately, I never really diagnosed mine properly, just tried swapping brake light switch and junkyard replacement servo real quick one afternoon and never fixed it, would be interesting if anyone else had similar failure mode for cruise ctrl what the culprit was, I will start a new thread for that since this one is so old.

Nope not the cam sensor it's new right from dealer.... problem is with the battery... only had it for a year then when it didn't want to start they tested battery and it was pooched... got a new one on warranty and now it's starting to do it again.... reminder it only does it when it's warm out and I've been driving for a while...

as for the cruise check your vacuum lines you might have a crack.. it's been my experience that they are very brittle over time and break easy... if not then it's the survo (not sure of spelling) it's the circle thing located by the washer filler tube. couple of bucks at a wrecker.

Wonder if the OP ever got his problem solved. This happened to me last year, also threw a bad cam position sensor code which didn't go away with a new sensor. As it turned out, the timing belt was missing teeth. I replaced it and the car fired up right way, and I haven't had that problem since. (Thought about doing the water pump while I was in there, didn't, and had to do all this over again to replace it a couple of weeks ago. Don't worry, my ass is still sore from me kicking it for that.)
