I'm buying a CAI from someone off craigslist. Is there anything I should look for that would make it ineffective or defective? It's a long style ram air cold air intake w/ a new K&N air filter. Im paying 80 dollars is this a good deal. Thanks for the help guys!

Best I've seen new for these is about $230. A new filter runs about $50 anyway so to get the whole kit for $80. That's not bad.

Also, i'm not sure about 1Gs but 2G cars use the 57-1522 so make sure the model number is correct for your car.

There are no aftermarket intakes made for the 1st gen treps you have to build it yourself to fit.

$80 used for cobbled together parts from Vatozone that cost maybe $20 new? Best to piece your own together from brand new parts!

It came off a 2nd gen trep. Would it not fit my first gen? Its a ram air I thought that would nake it good quality.

If its a true K&N intake built for a 2nd gen the quality and price is fine but it wont fit a 1st gen.

No such thing as a "Ram Air" system for our cars.

Anybody have any links to a few good intakes for a 2nd gen? Relatively inexpensive?
