I think I have a bad PCM?? 98 Concorde that quit the other day...Code 1493 came up...I changed the sensor...Had battery light coming on....Changed the Alternator...needed one anyway since old one had bearing going bad.....Battery lite still on.........

No codes anymore....but is it the PCm--which must act as a regulator in the old cars...that is not allowing juice to the battery?
New Battery last year.
Cold here, -20 tonite, was 0 when it went bad the other day.....

Anyone have ideas?

Does it start and run? If so, what voltage do you measure at the battery with the engine running at about 2000 rpm.

Check the condition of the green fusible link (in the positive cable right at the battery - it is the connection between the alternator and the battery. Also check Fuse T.

Thanks for tips--it was a brittle alternator cable under the air cleaner box...It broke in 2 when i picked it up...we have so much salt on our roads, it was rubbing against the frame in a bunch of salt!!!

I spliced and soldered and now have full power.

Thanks again. Dealer had said same thing....they were burned one time by this issue....
