Wireless internet connection Problems
I have been trying to get a wireless internet connection going permanently in my garage.
I had an older router, that refused to connect to the internet. Today, I bought a new one, this one refuses to connect. The internet line is good. Computer connects right into it when hooked up by cable.
I have 2 routers on the system. I want the one I bought today (Cisco Linksys E1200) to act as a wireless access point. The one I have in the house is a linksys Etherfast Befsr41 model.
I have seen this system work in the past. Someone at the last meet had it working. Not sure what they did, but I need to know. Thanks for the help.
Here is what the system is hooked up like right now:
Modem-->Etherfast Router--->House PC/GaragePC/Garage Wireless Router (E1200).

Try hooking the E1200 directly up to your modem with nothing else attached. Then see if you can establish a wireless connection.

Got it figured out. Had to put the new router in bridge mode to get it to act as an access point.
All is well now!

That is basically what I did that one time with the Linksys. You had the one router in the house used as a "gateway" (I think thats the term) and because the Linksys in the garage has a different software flash it was bit more involved getting it to play as second fiddle.
I know I could repeat it but only with it in front of me. At some point I was just trying different options and BAM started working lol.

Yeah, I searched that one until my face turned blue with no luck. There was no "computer dumbass" setting like there is in this new router. Couldnt find anything online about it either. Article on this new one popped right up.

EDIT: I should have read the other replies before I saw that you had answered your own question! lol I had a super long response to this!
I kinda have the same setup as you do but all in the house.
Cable Modem->Wireless Router (For 1st floor)->Wireless Repeater(2nd floor)-> Wireless Repeater 2/Bridge(My Bedroom).
I do lots of wireless media streaming into my bedroom from the 2nd floor home office. The files are huge 10-12 gb at a time so I had to have a wireless/wired bridge in my bedroom to my TV.
Allshare by Samusng is an amazing technology component and makes media streaming soooo simple.
