My 2.7l is leaking oil. It is coming from the two horizontal 6mm bolts at the front of the pan. I think that it is the one on the driver's side. I had the pan off before it started to leak. I just bought a new gasket for it but haven't installed it yet. Does anyone know how I can get this damn thing to stop marking its territory on the driveway?
Thanks in advance for the replies.
If its in the area I think it is, those bolts connect the pan to the timing cover. clean that area off and run a bead of RTV in that groove between the pan and the timing cover.
It sounds like it is at the front where the block, timing cover and pan all meet.. When you replace the gasket this area needs a good bead of RTV sealant.. If you loosen a few of the front pan bolts and the horizontal bolt you should be able to inject a bead of sealant into the area and tighten back up to seal the current leak...
