well finally able to get back to work on her after the holidays, turned out that bolt smashing around bent the starter gasket to drag on the TQ, didnt find out till halfway pulling out the engine but that was the other problem. we were able to take back the motor but just have a credit slip now, oh well ill use it one day.
since the last time i changed the plugs they are now all showing conditions of running lean. with white on all the electrodes, i assume its not a intake MF leak as i have done all the gaskets and its in all cylinders not just one.
i actually plan to get a MT 2500 scanner off ebay with a bunch of connectors and cartages for around 200$, im going to use it on much more then just this car and seems a good deal.
well got the scanner in, of course i can only understand half of the data so far but im learnin!
things that stick out to me are
Ign cycle 1 = 4
Ign cycle 2 = 0
Ign cycle 3 = 0
no idea what that means
open/closed loop = closed
Cam sensor will on occasion will flash off then back on this is only when at the misfire, and it does not do it in unison with the cruise control light flash.
Manifold vac = 60 kpa at idle, drops lower at misfire to around 40 then when more trottle is applied, goes to around 70 kpa
left and right ST adap percentage drops to 0 on throttle and then returns on idle
left and right LT adap percentage is -4 to -6 on throttle
no idea what these mean as well
left and right exaust bounced between lean and rich and would only occasionally read center
So i have recently already installed a new dealership cam sensor, i would assume the problem with that lies in the wiring... Manifold vac may be a intake leak however i have also already done both lower and upper intake manifold gaskets and have tested for leaks more then anything else... and finally what are the Left and right LT, and ST adap %?
You ever get this fixed? I'm dealing with the same running problem with my 2001. It's been doing it for months and then randomly stops for weird intervals. Mostly is caused by BP gas. I don't really want to jsut start replacing components but will if I have to..
the problem was solved, it was caused by a twisted flexplate causing improper timing readings, the car runs off crank sensor (off flywheel) till 2500 rpm when its taken over by the cam sensor, this is what caused it to get better at higher rpms.
if you have a intermittent problem i doubt this is what is happening to you esp if it changed depending on the gas you use, however mine did come slowly over time and was progressively worse so who knows.
