Step 1 Remove the parts from your car that are to be painted. The best time to do this is when you are removing the parts anyway to make other necessary repairs.

Step 2 Thoroughly clean the parts with steel wool and a good cleaner/degreaser.

Step 3 At this point there are 2 options one more costly but better If funds allow take the parts to be sand or bead blasted This will result in like-new surface for painting and really show well in your car. If funds are not available continue using the steel wool now tape off any areas you don't want to get paint on with blue or green painters tape then throughly clean the parts again and let dry.
try not to touch the parts anywhere paint is to be applied after the last cleaning.

Step 4 Hang the part from a garage or basement ceiling rafter by a piece of wire attached to one corner This will allow all surfaces to be painted at one time. Spray the part with heat resistant primer.(NOTE SOME PAINTS CAN BE DIRECTLY APPLIED TO BARE METAL OR LIGHTLY SCUFFED PAINT WITHOUT USING PRIMER.) Apply three light coats rather than a single heavy coat to prevent runs.

Step 5 After primer has dried, use emery cloth to lightly sand the entire part. Clean with damp rag and allow to dry.

Step 6 Hang the part from the rafter again and apply three light coats of high temp engine enamel(NOTE BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURES DIRECTIONS ON THE CAN FOR RE COAT TIMES.)then apply three light coats of high temp clear coat.

Step 7 Curring the paint can be done only after the painted parts are completely dry to the touch.
replace all the parts on the vehicle then run the engine for 10 minutes then let it cool down then 20 minutes let it cool again then drive the car for 30 minutes under normal driving conditions by now your paint should be fully curred.
