Agree with the last two posts. I have one of each, and the 3.2 ES has the better low end torque, even at 183K miles. I actually prefer it's driving habits to that of the 3.5 RT. Of course, until now, I had no idea why this was. I thought it was because the transmission were broken in in different ways.

I'm still thinking the R/T has larger diameter exhaust pipes as they sure look it
but I havn't got underneath with a vernier either.

I've read and been told that there is two exhaust diameters.

The larger being used for RT/Special LH trim models. I've heard the odd person say the exhuast is bigger on 3.X engine cars but that isn't true.

A quick question on idle rpms.

I realize the IAC motor controls the idle rpms via the computer and
it should be around 700-750 . The 3.5 conversion we just did runs and
drives great but idles at a very consistent 1000 rpms . It's not really a
problem as I personnally think 700 is too low. With zero vacume leaks ,
does anyone have any suggestions ?
The car did come out of a Police cruiser which would have idled a lot.
Maybe the throttle plate is adjusted so that the IAC motor can only
bring it down to 1000 rpms ??? hmm , maybe a way to bump other cars higher.
