The filter would hang down below the oil pan so it wouldn't be worth the risk
of punching a whole in it. Stay with the std. size filter.

I really like the LF-115 on the 3.2/ 3.5 ,,, just fill it before you install it !

For me the SAE sticker is the important part...now the rating is SN ( i think ) for conventional oils..so i shop @ Sears for $2.75 bucks a quart( SAE S/N rated )..A big part of motor oils is marketing , don't be fooled.

In my 99 2.7 Trep I keep the coolant changed,filters new,pcv and other stuff up to date..and go 4000 on conventional oil ..

There's nothing wrong with that. Yes, SN is the latest and can actually be marketed
as semi-synthetic as the manufacturers had to blend in some synthetic to meet that spec.

In my mind there's non-syn and synthetic ,,, buying a semi-syn is a waste of money.

I don't want to sway this thread but watch " ANY " consumption of coolant in a 2.7
I know from personal experience , address it immediately.
