2.7L Engine, How many miles per tank
Hey all, I am just wondering, how many gallons of fuel does the Intrepid hold? I think im getting low around 11 Gallons, which is around 205 to 250 miles. How much fuel is there in the standard fuel tank, and how many miles should I be getting under normal driving circumstances on a single tank. Surely I should be getting more than 205 miles (my last fill up).

I routinely get 390 to 425 miles to a tank on my 80 mile round trip daily commute in which I average 26-28 mpg. I generally fill up somewhere between 1/4 tank and 'E' depending on where it happens to be on the day I have to fill up to avoid running out the next day. Typical fillup is 13.x to 14.8 gallons for me. I haven't checked the calculations to see if those numbers work out - just ballpark numbers I know I routinely see.

In the fall, I ran my tank all the way done, the DTE had been on 0 for ~15 miles, and the needle was buried (and I mean buried) on E, when I filled it up, it took 16.8 gallons, and both the EVIC and my math worked out to get ~385 miles to that tank.

The last time I drove to Florida I filled up only after the low fuel chime went off after having been on "E" for awhile each time and I was getting an average of 400+ miles per tank depending on traffic conditions.

I have gotten as low as ~250 per tank. That equals about 16 mpg. I drive 20 miles a day to school and back and am lucky if I can go 40 mph.

My 3.5 has been getting something like 280 per tank (that's when the needle hits below the first red line), which is about 14 gallons. After some intense calculations, I get 20 miles per gallon.

It really, really depends on how you drive with the 2.7. It is a small engine in a heavy car. When I drive the trep, I can get close to 400 miles pure highway, or about 350 mixed on a tank. I can get roughly 30-ish mpg mixed. When my leadfoot wife drives, it will get about 280-300 mixed on a tank, she will average about 25-ish mpgs. I get better mileage because I also drive a 95 Ford F150 and I have conditioned myself to drive efficiently, because that thing gets around 12 mpg mixed with good driving. If I drive like an ass, I get 9 mpgs. Never good. Also, winter blend gas sucks anyway, you always lose a few mpgs on winter blend.

I just realized my error... the above statement was true for my previous Intrepid which was a 2.7L.
