So I was on YouTube looking at all some Intrepid vids and reading some commentary. Somebody said that the 2.7 was a Mitsubishi engine. Now I know quite a bit about my 2.7. I know that it has some 3.5 DNA in it. I know that its an aluminum block with sequential fuel injection. Lets see, dual overhead cams, timing chain, not belt, engine code EER, VIN code "R", makes its max hp at the redline, high powerband, made in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and is difficult to work on. Ever sonce I had the car I thought that the engine is 100 percent American, have I been wrong all of this time?

2.7 is not a Mitsubishi engine, pure Chrysler. They may have been thinking of the 2.5 or 3.0 engines they used in the Stratus and Sebring.

Its not really related to the 3.5 either, except for maybe the lower end is somewhat similar. Other than that the 2.7 has a timing chain, 3.5 has a timing belt, and the 2.7 is DOHC, whereas the 3.5 is SOHC. It is a much different design.
