Hello,

My 1998 Intrepid ES suddenly started to idle rough then die and the check engine light will come on. The engine will also die while driving. Actually the problem is so bad that I cannot drive it. I checked the DTCs and got all of the codes P0351 through 356. I don't think all of the coils or plugs died simultianously. Could it be a bad ECM?

Check the wiring, and the primary circuit condensers (little black block bolted to each valve cover, about the middle, with one green wire attached to them). One of those could be shorted. Check the ignition fuses as well. If a fuse is cracked, not blown, it could cause an intermittent connection. Since each coil is on a separate driver in the ECM, it makes me think there is an issue with the power side of the primary circuit to the coils. That circuit powers all the coils at once, the negative side is grounded by the ECM when it wants a coil to fire, 6 separate driver circuits. If fuses/condensers are good, ignition switch is another possibility.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the wiring and found the condensers, but wasn't sure what they were. Am I correct in thinking that with the green wire disconected they should measure as an open circut, with a meter? I will check the other stuff as well.
