Reservoir Bubbling and Spewing Help!!
Having Issue with the Reservoir bubbling and spewing out the pressure hole. Thermostat is good and opening 50/50 mix in it. Water pump is working (to my knowledge) Doing a Compression test tomorrow to make sure i dont have blown head gasket. Dont think i do cause dont have water in oil or any smoke what so ever. I have bled the water outlet over and over. Any suggestions would help?

How's the underside of the reservoir cap look? Thin/deteriorating?
If the rubber gasket isn't round and pliable/soft... replacing may do the trick.

Already replaced it. Could it possibly be the water pump no perfoming correctly? heard alot of problems on the 2.7s with them. That is assuming the compression tests i do tomorrow dont tell me i have a blown head lol/

have you checked the lines going to the reservoir for any deterioration? also check the reservoir for cracks, especially where the seams are. Any pressure leaks in the system will allow the coolant to boil.

You should also do a compression test on the cooling system, if all comes back fine on the other test. I'm curious to know what the results are. Car is 10 years old, so things are bound to break/fail.

cars not over heating/boiling over? then it could be the head gasket without water in the oil nor steam out the pipe. lot of pressure when the cylinder fires. that could be making it's way into the cooling system causing it to pressure up, and the pressure has to relieve itself somewhere. the cap is only made for 16? or 18? pounds.

no cars heat gauge stays little under half always. and oil is full and not over full. Did the compression test and no blown head gasket. Going to get a whole brand new reservoir soon. Cap is brand new and holds 16psi. From reading alot of these forums alot of people are sayin the 2.7l wp's are made of crap. So if res checks out then thats my next step. Its honestly probally something very simple and cheap. All i know is i love the car and have many plans for it. but if problems keep coming up then going to end up posting on craigslist i think.

Suggest *not* getting aftermarket reservoir - they're all made by Dorman (some third party branded). They had real problems with real early failures. It's been claimed that they fixed the problem, but I wouldn't risk it - it still probably won't last like an OEM would. Spend a little more and get it from an on-line discount dealer. IMO . . .

I have seen the OEMs go for $30-40 depending on the site. I haven't checked with a local dealer for price comparsion.

My local dealer quoted me $86 when I walked in, when I showed him an online price (right from my phone), he adjusted the price accordingly. I'd only found it in the low $50-range at that time, however.
