how to tell if you have VTSS
how to I tell if I have VTSS?
I locked it with the fob and no flashing light... when I start the car the light (skim test on dash) comes on..
is there any other way to see if I have VTSS?

Look at pages 8Q-1 and 8Q-2 in the 2002 FSM for a description of VTSS and how it's armed and triggered.

Did that it's about as useful as a teat on a bull. Just to clearify trying to find out if I have factory alarm
here's the break down. I have a skim and the indicator on the dash when I start car it comes on then goes off. If I put wrong key or have a key in the ignition while I start with remote it turns off. (like the book says)
when I lock doors (key or with fob) I don't get the flashing light to indicate alarm I can also open the door (windows down) get in and drive but it doesn't disable the system or give any notification that the system was triggered..
Would it be safe to assume I don't have the Factory alarm?

I thought the FSM was very informative on the VTSS and also the SKIS and the interaction between SKIM and VTSS if you have it. Did you read how VTSS is armed and how it is triggered? Obviously if you armed it with the FOB and and opened a door from the inside that would trigger VTSS. So if it didn't happen what do you think?

I think if you have a factory alarm the key is grey, black if not.

so I got it figured out... went to dealer and they ran the vin.. I have Skim but not the Factory alarm. It can be programed in (turned on) but not off.
at the same time they gave me a print out of all the things I have in the car.
See Attached.
Just a side note he took a look at the sensor on the dash and told me that it's the right one for Auto headlights just need a switch and it will be PNP.
Also asked about the ATC unit upgrade and needing the wire harnes and he also told me that it's already there on my model. Can this be verified?

For the auto-headlights you just need the switch, yes. For ATC, you need to replace the upper and lower dash harness's. If you find one from a 2002 300M you will have all the factory illumination(headlight switch, trac-off button) and more on top of the ATC.

You can modify the headlight switch you have to enable what's already built into it for auto headlights. How-To: http://www.lhforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=60
This thread by Justin is better about explaining how to get into the switch: http://www.lhforums.net/forums/showt...319#post408319
Some people have done it by simply forcing the knob one more position CCW to break the stop - up to you whether to take that route.
Here's a How-To on modifying the harness you already have for ATC - just add the ATC head and the blower power module (sometimes erroneously called the blower resistor module): http://www.cis.umassd.edu/~u_sgeary/...ATCINSTALL.htm
