ATC Mod could it be just as easy as PNP?
went to dealer and they ran the vin.. I have Skim but not the Factory alarm. It can be programed in (turned on) but not off.
at the same time they gave me a print out of all the things I have in the car.
MTC he took a look at the sensor on the dash and told me that it's the right one for Auto headlights just need a switch and it will be PNP.
Also asked about the ATC unit upgrade and needing the wire harnes and he told me that the wireing is already there on my model. Can this be verified?
Visit http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/showthread.php?t=235239 to see printout of options on my car from dealer.

An 04? They removed every wire in the harness except what was to support what options there are there. My 04 harness was stripped bare to save money.

From 1998 to 2004 Chrysler manufactured two dash wiring harnesses.
One harness for MTC and one harness for ATC.
One step in the process of converting to ATC would be to remove the dash from a car with ATC and purchase that wiring harness.
Another step would be to remove your dash and swap in the ATC wiring harness.
Yes, it is as simple as PNP but it is very tedious and time consuming.
I believe there is a HOW-TO that you need to read before going any further.

If you want to be specific they didn't only make two dash harness's, it's more like a dozen plus different ones. But yes, two main types with and without ATC.
So yes they are full of shit, a friend of mine had the dealer tell him this so he ordered a new ATC head only to find out it won't even plug into the non-ATC harness.

You can modify the headlight switch you have to enable what's already built into it for auto headlights. How-To: http://www.lhforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=60
This thread by Justin is better about explaining how to get into the switch: http://www.lhforums.net/forums/showt...319#post408319
Some people have done it by simply forcing the knob one more position CCW to break the stop - up to you whether to take that route.
Here's a How-To on modifying the harness you already have for ATC - just add the ATC head and the blower power module (sometimes erroneously called the blower resistor module): http://www.cis.umassd.edu/~u_sgeary/...ATCINSTALL.htm

I think if you go digging in a car at a salvage yard, what you are looking for and will need become self evident...
But:
1. - yes, that part.
2. - yes, dash
3. - as you take apart the car, wires that are attached to the components you are getting are also needed - so in this case, you need the harness attached to part 1.
4. - connected to part 2
5. - sounds like you have it, yes - but I wouldn't bet on it working for you (no reason other than luck!) - snag one while you are there.

Hey for those that have atc in the winter or when it's cold enough does it turn on the rear defrost automatically or do you still have to turn it on manually?
