Alright, My 93 Eagle Vision TSi sometimes won't want to turn over. I think it's because it's not getting gas because I can get it to start up after pumping on the gas for a few seconds. Once I get it started up, when I back up I have a gas smell coming from the car. What could be doing this? Could it be my fuel injector or something else?

"Turn over" generally means that the electric starter motor isn't cranking the engine... Just clarifying, the engine cranks with the electric motor, but the engine won't actually "start" running.

I'll have to chew on the problem a bit - but yes, bad injectors come to mind.

You say you pump it - what if you just crack the throttle and hold it down just a bit to start, does that let it start?

Which engine do you have? 3.3 or 3.5?

It's the 3.5. Let me clarify, I push down on the throttle and after a few seconds it pushes gas through it and it starts up. Sometimes it will start up right away, especially in the cold temperatures.

So it won't start as easily when warm, but when cold it is easier?

When you say warm - you mean air temperature outside, or engine temperature?

Air temperature outside, I should have said that. Even sometimes when the engine is warm i have a few problems.

I wonder if your IAC is stuck open... Do you do work yourself, or is this something a shop will do for you? You should be able to remove and clean the IAC, or replace it.

Could also be an air temp sensor...

Alright, I used some fuel injector cleaner a few months ago after my last oil change. Would it be a good idea to keep using it? And i could get a garage to look at it. I had my fuel line replaced so i didn't think it was that where my smell was coming from.

I don't think it is an external leak, no. For safety, it is something to check out.

Fuel injector cleaner likely isn't hurting it, but likely isn't helping it.

When did the problems start? Was anything done right before it started?

I've had the car since late July and I have had the problem since then. I've had a tune up done on the car and the fuel line replaced. Not sure what was done before it. I'm planning on getting a carfax to see what the 26 previous reports were on it.

Here are drawings where the IAC is - you could make sure it is plugged in, and then you could remove and clean it.

I honestly wouldn't file a carfax report on it - the 26 items probably include silly things... But it might be worth it - see, they get you and make you want to know what the report says.

A carfax isn't likely to tell you anything about your current problem, fyi

FYI, in that top picture, the "Knock Sensor" is labeled totally wrong. That is not a knock sensor, that is a Cam Position Sensor.

Alright. Thanks for the pics. I will take a look and to to see if its in right. Under my hood seems pretty clean but that may just be all the surface things and just for show.

Here is what it looks like (generic picture) when removed - that cone goes in and out to provide air to the engine when your foot isn't on the gas... if that cone is stuck out, then the engine has too much air, and you have to compensate by holding down the gas pedal to increase the gas you get (and air too, so it is a vicious cycle).

Once removed, it can be cleaned with spray solvent, or a solvent and toothbrush, etc.

BUT - it might be that it is not moving when power is applied, and it is stuck. That needs replacement.
