stigma about the 2.7 aside..
was there a redesign/upgrade of the oil system for the 2001 model year?

looking through this chilton it lists nominal oil pressure specs as follows (@3000rpm):

98: 25-80 psi
99-00: 25-105 psi
01: 45-105 psi

i dont know if there is any anecdotal evidence to support it, but do the evil oil demons tend to strike more against the earlier generation 2.7s?
did DC see the problem and fix it for 01-up?

After '98 the relief spring tension was increased, hence the higher maximum pressure.
I guess the pump capacity was upgraded for '01
