Hey guys, long time no see.

Last week in 20-25 degree weather, I was assaulted by road salt from the dept of transportation vehicle. I used my washer fluid (regular fluid) and cleaned my windshield.

That was the last time my washing fluid AND wipers worked.

Checked fuses under the hood, changed the 40amp wiper fuse, still nothing.

Checked every fuse in the driver side interior, no bad fuses.

When the wipers are on, I do not hear anything coming from the motor.

When on (at any speed), I cannot nudge the wipers to move

I am thinking the washer fluid is just frozen, perhaps? But the wipers not working independently at different speeds has me confused.

Could it be a bad switch? My H beams and blinkers work no problem.

Check for power at the wiper motor. If none, likely the switch....if power, the motor....rare occurrence on these cars either way, so double check your fuses and relays.

A few question, how exactly do I test to see if the relay wiper on/off fuse is good? All I have is something like this with a ground wire,

Also, will the above item I have work to test power to the harness on the wiper motor? Or should I get a multi meter? Should I have the car on, with the wipers turned on, while I check the motor harness?

This is all new to me, as I've never done in depth electrical checks on my car. I've searched and searched for how to's and can't seemed to find any insight.

That. Fuse 5 powers both the wiper motor and the washer motor. If the fluid froze, it would lock up the washer motor and blow fuse 5 (10A). Visual checks of the fuses are often not reliable. Either pull it out and check it with a multimeter (in ohms mode) or replace it - but if it's still frozen, it will just blow again. Oh - and when it thaws, unless it is below half full, siphon some out and fill with winter fluid. If below half full, just fill with winter fluid.

Thank you! It was fuse #5, I checked it yesterday by pulling it out and using a two prong fuse checker. This time I turned the key and tested it and it was bad.

I'm new to this and I feel stupid, but hey, I learned.

I also have an extra relay fuse! Better safe than sorry. At least this endeavor gave me a reason to get a multi-meter that I can now use for my e-cig.

Glad to help a fellow Virginian. Probably over half the time when people say they checked the fuses and they were definitely good, it turns out to be a blown fuse - so don't feel bad.
