What fits in the doors, tweeters in the mirror?
What can any one recommend i put on the doors of my 98 for great sound, also, has anyone put tweaters in the hollow mirror compartment on the inside front doors? I just put in a Pioneer 6400 and it makes the factory speakers sound even better, its the radio with the display of the graphics w/ the race car, dolphins, engine cylinders, screen savers etc. I highly recommend it.

Alpine or Polk Audio have good sound for the money.
BTW- Do all those graphics make your stereo sound better?

please don't hate on my stereo, the reason i went for it was 1. I had the factory casette deck and i was tired of using the car discman 2. I had a $50 best buy gift card given to me for christmas 3. they were doing free installation when i choose to install it and 4. I needed something to make my car stand out, as we all know, it comes out the factory nice and neat and very funcitonal, yet plain, i needed something special in the car. Also, at my school, there are a bunch of rich kids who drive benz's and audi's etc. and they hook up there ride w/ dvd's etc. i know I'll never compare to that, nor do i want to live that extravegantly, nor can i afford to, but i needed to hold my own somehow, and this particular radio satifies me very well, its a head turner and I appreciate it very much.

I think it was mlfca who put aftermarket 6.5" speakers in his doors. They need a spacer ring (free with purchase), but he said even with that the door needs a little trimming to fit.

Not necesarily true.
Yes, the size is 6.5". And yes you need like a spacer ring kit. There's some Pioneer front speakers that come with it. If not, you can always get the kit, it's not that expensive, I got it for like $14. Just be careful that the speaker grill doesn't touch your speakers, if they do you'll have a really terrible sound, i call it the farting sound  . Just bend the grills a little bit and you'll be fine. Make sure you get 3 ways, that way you don't have to install and extra tweeter and try to put it and mess up the original design of your interior. Well, if that's what you want, ok :P
Hope i did help a little

Thanks for the info Los, by your profile i can tell you hooked up your system, and you also have a 2.7 so you're going through the same things I'm going through. I appreciate the help, as you can see i just got the intrep recently(December), I love it and it definately has potential. I put in my favorite radio at best buy and I had this idea to put tweeters in the little empty space on the interior of where the side rear views mount to the door, if you open it by taking out the screws that face the front of the car you'll see you can fit tweeters in there. I looked up a couple at best buy and crutchfield. RF has a two way speaker that fits 6.5's or 6's, I can't remember, in the doors and tweeters elsewhere, however i don't like how the grilles of the speakers will look in those mirror cavitys, however, polk, who sells the tweeters separately, not w/ the 6's has them with either a grille or a plastic cover, and the plastic cover looks nice so i think i may go with that. Now, does anyone know what the system will sound like w/ two way 6's on the doors and 60 watt(more or less 60, i can't remember exactly how strong they were) in the mirror cavity?

I don't think you really NEED tweeters unless you have subs. The only reason I got tweeters is because it was a little too bassy and I like to hear words too. :p I think you will have a little too much treble if you install tweeters with non amped OEM type speakers. That's just my opinion though. It all depends on what you like for sound.

Due to budgetairy(if thats a word) reasons, I am forced to do things little by little in the order of things that are in the cars best interests, for instance, a decent alarm is next, followed by tints, probably the intake kit, spoiler and gto's, the hood cover bra, hooking up the rest of the system, etc. I'm very ambitious. For instance, My 2.7 doesn't have fogs, now I'm pretty sure I'll replace the front w/ the high end model bumper w/ the fogs, more so now then yesterday. Last night while dropping my friend off at Kennedy airport my bumper cought a cinderblock on the ground that i couldn't see while pulling out of parking, and tore up the very bottom of the bumper. Its a couple deep scratches, they're not huge however, and living in the city like i do, they're to be expected eventually. And even though the only way to see them is if you get under the car, i know they're there and they bother me.
Anyways, My friend gave me a pair of 10 inch 400 watt mpx's that he bought and never used, so eventually I'll amp and mount them, but thats when the system idea is serious. Until I'm able to afford the mods i wanna do, i ask about them on the forums, thats why most of my posts are questions. I appreciate yours, and the help of everyone else on the site's help very much. Thanks. And if there's anything as far as putting a system together that you or anyone else can recommend, I'd appreciate that very much too.

My friend recommended against me installing woofers on the rear dash inbetween the speakers on my 2nd gen b/c he says the doors and panels w/ shake too much and ruin sound, and that this'll be a problem in the long run. Can anyone confirm/deny?
