Oh, don't get me wrong. I HATE Michigan. We ( my family and I) hate Michigan so much that none of us have ever been to the state, EVER. We have an uncle up there in Yipsilanti. He's been there for 18 years. I have yet to see his house. Dan, I think I have more PHUCK michigan shirts then you do. I even have some old school ones from when my brother attended school here. I def. see South Florida going down tonight. I still think Rutgers is the Gem of the Big East this year. I guess we'll see later tonight.

I guess since you guys lack an NFL team worth its salt is why you're so obsessed with college football...

We're in a college town. It's sad that the East Coast has to rely on BC and Rutgers for some good college football. And they have only been good the past couple of years.
Also our state has teams to root for. We don't have to go to root for a team in another state. Sorry, I just had to point out that R.I. is so dinky. I always get on my cousin that works for CVS in Woonsocket.

Ha! Well if you consider the Browns or Bengals to even be NFL caliber teams! You'll find that pretty much anywhere you go in Ohio, you will have a die hard Buckeye following. Of course you have the Michigan people who do it out of spite of being an Ohioan and if you live near the PA border, you run into a lot of Penn State, but if there is one team in the that the majority of the state supports, it has always been the Buckeyes.
I was born and raised with Cleveland sports in my blood, but college sports always meant Ohio State! Plus football is a way of life in Ohio. Say all you want about all the movies made about Texas as a football state, but Ohio is right up there with them. Plus when your pro teams could get schooled by your local HS, who else are you going to root for? A winning organization that is Buckeye football!

There are 5 states that have great High School Sports (Football is the main focus).
Not in any particular Ranking.
1. Ohio
2. Pennsylvania
3. Texas
4. California
5. Florida
As Candyman said there is one team that is well respected in Ohio and that is the Ohio State Buckeyes. Let me just say that we are brain washed as children. My brother and I were both born in Columbus, in Riverside Hospital (2-3 miles from OSU) their was two places that we went to before our own home. This first was our temple (We are Hindu) and you would never guess the second place....the entrance of the Rotunda at Ohio State. This may sound crazy to some of you but my dad won't even say the state name Michigan. He'll either say "Those [assholes or son's of bitches] up there, or That school up North." We have kept this tradition going as my brother and sis-in-law had their first child last year. My sis-in-law was like "We are going where?" My mom said to her "Honey, both of my boys have done this, so is my Grandson." Shit, my sis-in-law even induced 2 days early so he could be here to watch the Texas game. Yes, we are crazy Die-Hard Buckeyes.
Go Bucks!

And I'll bet Florida comes in on that list of football states because of Ohio! Ever see how many folks from Ohio move down there. There's almost as many Ohio plates than there are Florida down there! It's insane! I agree with the five you listed, again in no particular order.
I will say we don't go as far to not go to Michigan or call not it by its name, but "that team up north" sure is a regular part of our vocabulary!
*EDIT - I must also say Dave, that your Intrepid is stunning! I don't think I've ever really looked at your photos before but that color with those chrome rims is gorgeous! Add some tint to those windows and look out!

My dad always loves to point out to Michigan fan's the best thing that happened to them came from Ohio. That would be Bo Schembechler.
Thanks for the car comments. I lost a chrome center cap the other day and got a few dings on the drivers side from assholes at the West Campus parking lot. I need to get those things worked out and tint is in the means of climbing on the list.

cbssporstline it. I have watched a lot of games over the net and it's not bad. Plus you get all the stats etc. that you rarely get during the game.

Well, Looks like we found out what South Florida is made of. They still have good chances for a BCS game if they win out. I still see Cinci giving them a problem, but they play them in Tampa. It was a good game none the less but we say the true side of the sophmore Grothe.

I didn't think it was a good game. Though admittedly I was flipping back and forth with the Indians-Red Sox game.
Seemed to me like once USF got into trouble, they couldn't coach or scheme their way out of it. Hard to explain really. Just that if they got into a 3 and 15, they just didn't have any plays designed for that against heavy pressure. Did they even throw a single screen pass to counter the pressure? They got predictable.
I watched cause I heard they were supposed to be a good team. I didn't see them being anything special. Certainly nothing more special than USC, LSU and I'm sure others that I haven't had a chance to watch.

I agree with you on that, but apparently they didn't play as well as they had been earlier in the season. Grothe was definitely not on his game and the play calling/decision making to deal with the pressure was very poor. Just a few quick dumps whether they are screens or passes to the middle would have gone a long way for them. Also their defense got caught asleep on those trick plays. The fake field goal would have been easily stopped (at least not for a TD) if those two guys that ended up chasing down the receiver had been paying attention even a split second earlier. They chased the ball for a second instead of their man and he was still barely open enough to get the pass to.
Now let's see if BC can hold on to their spot. I say no, but who knows at this point. LSU has a good chance of climbing back into the title game and their only real chance of getting knocked out is the sec championship game. The only other team that could hop on in there (1 loss at the moment) really is Oklahoma is the take care of business the rest of the year.
