Question Intrepid EDRs?

Do LHs have Event Data Recorders? If so, are they somehow integrated into a critical system or can they be disabled/removed?

No they don't:

I guess that I should qualify that.
It is not an EDS that records time, speeds etc.
There is the fault code systems, which would indicate what has occured to cause a fault.
It is only time sensitive to the number of engine starts, not real time.
There is nowhere in the PCM, BCM or airbag controllers that records anything other than fault codes that is accessible to the DRBIII
Not to say that some "secret" area isn't in there that is accessible by unknown gov't probes.

Why would you want to disabled/removed them ? Most EDR's are part of the Air Bag system anyhow. Besides, if you live in New York its illegal to disable them.

How would you even be able to disable them? To me it sounds like you would be cutting into the PCM and anyone would surely wreak havoc trying to reassemble it.

What New York says I can do with my car and what I can actually do with my car are, to me anyways, different things.

I reference what MikeW said:

And if there was one, I would just try to figure out how it stored the data... Flash memory (most likely), hard drive, any of various other storage media, and disable that part. You're definitely right that that it would be a beast-load of work, but I figured I could go grab a random PCM from a junkyard and try it first.

Thankfully though, that's not even necessary.

Just wanted to know why you would want too that's all.

Anyhow, here's a list of cars that do have them installed for those that want to know:
