Exclamation Major damage to trep this morning!!!

Well i was driving about 50mph when all of the sudden my hood releases by itself and flys all the way back and smacks my windshield and cracks it everywhere. My hood is completely smashed and fucked up as well, as well as the black plastic cowl pieces for the windshield, along with a few dents on my roof. Time to call the insurance company at 9 to file a claim. But hey, at least i get a rental car to beat the shit out of.........anyone think its possible to get a few other things fixed also that they would include? like new headlights and re aligning my drivers door.?

i think your young the body shop will know whats part of the hood going up also you may want them to replace the hood relase cable and under hood latch we replaced all of that when a hood went up also remember your insurance will most liklely cover the rental so don't ruff it up to much !

As a claim guy, Insurance companies will only fix the parts that are damaged. They will not give you new headlights if nothing is wrong with them. If they turn on and off, then you are ok.

Well they are filing it as comprehensive so i dont have to pay a deductible. I guess there was more damage then they thought there would be, including the fenders and the roof so they are determining whether or not to total it. I paid $6000 for the car and still owe about $3000, anyone know how they would work if they totaled it? Oh yeah and they gave me a black 2008 magnum for a rental car : )

Have you inspected the hood release AND secondary latch?

I'm curious to know how 2 things failed. Might also be a hint for the rest of us to check our latches.

they will go by blue book and then what you get is what is left after they pay oof the car because they want the title and they most likely wont allow you to take anything out of the car other than personal items no radio s or such then they take the car .
