1994 Chrysler LHS Reliability?

Anybody Know anything about them? Also maybe anything about a 1991 Buick Park Avenue, They are both $500 with 150k plus mileage but I wanna know which might shit first, its for my girlfriend and she doesnt have much money for repairs so they are pretty much going to be driven as is. Any help would be appreciated.

The tranny in the LH will probably be the one to quit first.

STILL, I'd personally rather drive the LHS before the Buick!

Mileage is not bad but its still a $500 car, i would expect some repairs or why is it for sale?

GO with LHS. Reason: it's 3 years newer than the park avenue.

While I would much prefer the LHS from the looks/performance perspective If your looking strictly for reliability go for the park avenue It has the extremely reliable 3800 and the GM 4 speed auto trans which is a relatively old and proven design. The LHS has the 3.5 which has acceptable reliability but is not as good as a simple pushrod engine like the GM 3.8 (or Chrysler 3.3) and the virtually brand new (based on a 1989 design) Chrysler 42le transmission which is known for lots of problems (especially over 100k mi) in the earlier years. Not to mention the fact that the modern drive train in the LHS means repairs will cost more than the park avenue's simple drive train.

man it's a 500 dollar car. don't think about it too much... which ever you pick, it's all going to be good...

I have the exact car. A 94 LHS. Had a few issues, some had to be repaired, some can be left broken. Like now I have a cracked windshield, a little rust around the windshield frame, the headlights are faded and one of the belt or tensioners are squeaking.

Is it still a reliable car, hell ya. Parts of it really surprise me that are still original and working perfectly. For a 14 year old car I all the power accessories still work. Original alternator, starter, radiator.

I also agree the 3.8L GM and GM trans are pretty bulletproof but on an old one you will typically have minor problems with door handles, window mechanisms, rusted fuel/brake lines.

THanks for all the input guys, I went to ask about the Park Avenue and It got sold, so the LHS it is I guess. It seems pretty solid so Im not really worried about it, and it doesnt seem like anyone has anything bad to say about them So I think Shell be alright.
