Data Logger

Have you ever wondered what all those sensors were doing while you were driving? I ran across this site that sells an OBD II data logger. All you need is a laptop and their cable. The software is free. It displays all engine parameters, pulls codes and resets check engine light and I think the price is very reasonable. Check it out. I'm getting one.

If you know how to read these data, it can tell you a ton about how a car is working. At school I'm used to have access to the full manufacture development ECU (GM) and software to modify all the internal parameters of the ECU... you can make the engine do some pretty weird stuff...

If I could make the cable I would be happy... Wonder if they have a blueprint of the PCB and the pinouts of everything.. Make life a lot cheaper for me if it doesn't have a special chipset and just a bunch of caps/resists/trans and so on in the little black box...

NVM, checked it out, simple PCB design... I am just gonna order the kit when I get $40
