'93 Passat??

We only have one car in our family right now, and the wife would like to get a second. I went and looked at a 93 Passat tonight. The body is in great shape, with the only rust spots on the deck lid, and a spare one is included with the sale, as are a FSM, Haynes, and all the parts needed to finish the repairs as stated in his ad.

Anybody have any thoughts as to whether this would be a wise buy?

This sure look like a good deal, those little engine if maintain properly should outlast the body.I had to change the heater core on a 92 couple month back, quite a job. But the buyer job is to get the price down,as much as possible. Good luck.

I love the part he says "selling because I lost access to a garage to work on it". That should tell you something right there. VW = high maintenance! Also that he has all of the service manuals..........because you NEVER want to take your VW to a stealership, unless you're looking to empty your wallet. VW's are GREAT lease cars.......because you give them back after 3 or 4 years just before the problems start!

thats a troublesome model.

Look into a honda civic or a toyota, they are much better in terms of reliability and also asking price.

You maybe be able to get a 95 or newer honda for around that price range.
You can also fix the honda yourself unlike the passat.

Good luck.
