factory satellite readio unit - mod?

ok, ran across a satellite radio and antenna, factory units from a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Touring Edition. looking here to see if anyone my know the answers to my questions...

here are my questions:
what satellite service is this?
will this unit plug into the changer port on the back of my radio or somewhere else?
any issues running/installing these in our cars?

thanks

the rb1 has sat radio, you need the antenna and sat radio service from sirius.

If its standalone i dont see any problems with making it fit. The pacifica uses the same communication system.

I didn't realize the RB1 had sat radio... I've been drooling over those since I found out they fit in our cars... I think I'll just wait and get a RB1... thanks.

if anyone is interested in this sat unit, here it is...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...226237188&rd=1

looked like a good deal to me...

also, the company who is listing this unit, does all kinds of parts... I ordered an EVIC from them and expect it in tomorrow. paid $40 + shipping for it. they post good picks and tell you exactly what to expect from their parts... just a heads up...

ya it comes as a sirius kit with an antenna and module, they connect via the changer port.

So your cd/aux button will be able to carry many aux features.
So far i have a few of the following but others have even more connected, there was a joke about it a while back referring to how many things you need to listen to at once LOL.

OEMs Under CD/AUX
1. CD changer (changer port)
2. Ipod adapter (changer port)
3. Sirius sat radio (changer port)

The rb1 is really neat with sat radio, similar to the ipod mode, it displays all of the info on the screen so you dont have some dinky unit sitting on your dash as most sat radio users do. Some like, i dont prefer the floating second radio attached to the dash, so RB1 FTW.

I believe the other nav radios have sat radio as well such as the RB4.

cool, thanks for the info. I'm not a fan of Sirus, but I'll live with it. I like the RB1 better than the RB4.

just a FYI for those interested, I've been doing some research on sat antennas and I've found that the one used for late model dodge trucks and be picked up for a few bucks out of the pick yards and it's lower profile and smaller footprint make it ideal IMO...

LKQ is a corporation that owns a LOT of key location high volume junk yards. They bought my favorite yard and shut off the flow of hard to find cheap parts.

oh, sorry to hear that. I'd never dealt with them before and they appeared to have very reasonable prices and policies. I bought an EVIC from them that just showed up yesterday for $40. I thought that was pretty good considering its an EVIC with homelink and a 90-day warranty... I do think they are high on their radios ($80 for a 4-disc OEM changer) but they do give a warranty on those too... has anyone had bad experiences with them?

doesnt LKQ avoid shipping to canada? i think i wanted some bluetooth module off a caravan/pacifica and they wouldnt ship it to Ontario.

Im going to FL soon but they wouldnt ship to NON-paypal addresses, so i just gave up.

Not a big fan of them but its good for us buyers i guess.

apparently sirius is better than xm from reviews, im not into sat radio so i have no idea but i heard they were merging at one point? I could be wrong.

My friend has xm in his gm truck, but its a real pain the way he has it setup with wires running all of the windshield, its a real mess and its always fuzzy partly because of his fault prob. I wanted to compare the XM in his truck sirius that ive listened to in an oem car.

Good luck with the upgrade.
