Intrepid R/T..maybe...maybe not

Well with a combonation of seeing the R/T's on here and a badass R/T around town,(drivin by an old lady with red hair) I was thinking about MAYBE lookin into one. Though im not sure I want to give up the low insurance cost on my 96 and lots of other things like the almost indestructable 3.3 and the good mileage I get with it. I havent done much reading on the R/T's with the 3.5HO, but I do have a few questions about them. Do they get good mileage, can the motors take a beating, is my insurance gunna crank up? Stuff like that. Anyone who wants to help fill me in on what I need to know, im open to hear it. Thanks guys.

Your insurance probably will stay the same. It should go up because of the slightly newer car, but it should go down because of the lower maintenance reliability than your '96. Therefore it should stay the same.

Though, insurance costs are always oddly done. My 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid has a LOWER insurance cost than my 2004 Intrepid 3.5. Why? The Intrepid is worth much less.

My 3.5 has taken a mad beating; I drive it like I stole it, and it's at 173,000km, but it's still fine.

From what I have heard, the 2nd Gen 3.5's are a very strong and durable engine. (Unless your name is Viglent ) Also, they get pretty good mileage. I'm not sure on the numbers, but it was like 1-2 mpg's less than the 2.7L.

That is for city driving... on the highway, my R/T gets better mileage than my dad's 2.7.

Cool, well maybe I will start lookin around then. Another problem I have is that my 96 has a salvage title and hail damage. Runs and drives fine but ya know haha.

LOL the camry is prob under your dads primary, thats why its less.
The intrepid is my primary so its the most expensive insurance. THe same went for my forst car ever the 92 bonneville.

So its not based on the car value entirely, its about the driver too. IOF you were primary on the camry, good luck LOL.

Newer cars = higher insurance. Same goes for everyone, if you get a the RT to replace the 96 your insurance will go up a bit, but not by much, prob 10-20$ a month at most depending on your previous record.

I get about 27 MPG highway on the LHS. The Intrepid isn't as good. Getting 20MPG average with the Intrepid.

I'm primary on both. My parents have other cars. I've got a clean record and 3.5 years of experience... so it's not TOO too bad.

Also, city mileage for my 3.5 is between 19 and 22. Highway, cruising at 110km/h (70mph) I can get 28-29.
