Is this good (detector)

I am currently shopping for a good radar detector, and no its not for racing. Just for the coolness of having one . I looked around and this one seems like the best one I have seen, and detects a broad range of things. What do you all think, or am I going to get ripped off here? and if so.. could someone direct me into the right direction please.

Well they pretty much did you will see some small town cops that still use them.
the unit that he picked out has all the new laser detection.
its just what most people still call them.

I use a Valentine 1. It has front and rear detectors so you can tell where the cops are. It has never let me down - except for the time I got busted by VASCAR...

Whatever you get, please level it on the windshield so it is actually able to detect front and rear. I love watching these people fly past me with their fancy radar/laser detectors when the damn thing's on a 45 degree angle, pointing up into the sky. Works great if you're getting gunned from either the air, or if the cop is hiding in your back seat.
I had one for a while in my 1st gen, and it did save me once for sure, but i wouldn't invest in another. Mine was stolen (left the power cable and windshield mount) and i didn't find it useful enough to get another. Look out for the ones in front of you, and keep ahead of the ones behind.

Invest in an escort PASSPORT 8500 series or higher and you will not be let down. Me and a buddy were coming back from Dayton on 70 and detected this cop a mile and a half away through fog that i couldn't see a foot in front of me. We were all looking around trying to find him lol. There are a lot more stories related to it as well but thats just one. Most time they don't work in fog but this one does. I'm buying one as soon as i get the money, you can pick up an 8500 for around 150 on eBay.

I agree with everyone else about getting a Cobra or a Passport. I got a Whistler and on the freeway last week, I rode passed a cop with his gun pointed right at me and that thing didn't make a peep. Good thing I was going the speed limit.

You may check out this website, too. They test all the fuzzbusters.
