That was very informative. After watching that I checked the tires on my trep and T&C and they were all made in '07 so...

I learned that info back in 1997 when i went to work for Michelin (Marc)........... We went to 30 different tire shops and purchased a set of new tires from them. and Out of the 30 sets we purchased 18 sets was already over 7 years old.. Needless to say we used them to help make a basketball court near the break room!!!

The news does place the misleading information in the consumers hands. That is a good thing. Although I would not turn down a set of old never used tires as long as they were priced accordingly and I was aware of the age.

For example. For a beater or city car or Taxi cab that doesn't use the highway.

Before the set of Assurance Comfortreds I have now. I used to have a set of Eagle GA's. Without checking the date I know they were at least 10 years old because they were spares out of LHS's and Intrepids. They performed perfectly all the way down to the wear bars.

I knew tires have a short lifespan on the shelves but I thought they were yanked off the shelf after 2 years. Just keep in mind about the spare tire.

I'm the same way.
If it's on the shelf for 10 years, I'll take it if you sell it for less then than a 2 year old tire.
If they cost the same, why would I not get the newer one.
Tires age, even with no use. Being kept inside in a controlled environment slows down the process, but it's still a process.
Nevermind the fact that a 10 year old new tire cost much less to make then. Why rip me on that tire for the same price as a 2 year old one?

Read this and think about your Mother, Daughter, or any other person you care about buying tires without you there.
