Get one started back in and that should line the other one back up. You'll have to have someone hold the boot on the rack so you can line them back up. Disconnect the other end of the tie rod if you have to. Be careful not to strip out the rack.
i can the ps started w/o the tie rod but not the ds. but i think i messed up the rack on the ps . is there supposed to be a sleeve or spacer in the guide hole? and i cant get the ds back out to put the washer on. it just spins
theres a metal sleeve that goes thru the bushing -- and a washer on the back.. they are tough to get lined up if you let both go, due to the fact you have to hold the boot out of the way and they are fine thread. It requires patience, keep trying, hopefully you didnt booger up the threads
