99 intrepid stereo help

ok hi I'm trying to install an aftermarket stereo it is a (boss BV9976b ) model and I already purchased the dash kit and the wiring harness I unhook the battery and remove the old stereo system then I hook all wires from new unit and make sure they have proper connections I install it hook battery back up and everything works but the sound no sound at all so after an hour of frustration I hook the old unit up and it has sound and everything what am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you haven't connected the Amplifier turn on wire from the aftermarket radio.

but I don't have an amplifier I don't think my car has 1 built in not sure tho

You've got an ES so you most likely have an amp in the passenger side foot well/kick panel.

Do you have speakers on the front doors up by the rear view mirrors? If you do..then you have an OEM amp.

yea I do do u have a suggestion as to how I can hook it up I don't think I seen any addition wires

The original wiring in the car harness will have a wire that's Dark Green with a Red stripe. That's the 12volt signal from the radio to turn the amp on. Your aftermarket radio/wiring harness will most likely have a Blue or Blue/White wire that's for the amp turn on. Check the manual for your aftermarket radio to verify what wire it actually is and connect that to the Dark Green/Red wire in the car harness.

well I got everything working perfectly but on a sad note I think my stereo fried my alternator now
