Question belt squeal?

hey guys...its been a while since ive been on here. glad to finally be back. just got a 2003 300m with 70k miles, new belts and new M special treads for 7000. got a question tho...when we first got it(my fiance and i), the belt was squealing nonstop, so i figure since they said they put a new belt on it that it was just the tensioner that was out of adjustment. sure enough i take it to the dealer that we get it from and they adjust it and the squeal goes away. i noticed the other day tho (it's been about a month) that when its damp/ humid out at night, or we've been on a longer trip (anything over 20 miles) it starts to squeal again...any ideas?

Could still be too loose, or could be a bad bearing in an idler pulley, or an accessory that is noisy or seized.

The belt should have a 1/2" of deflection halfway between the pulleys. If it has more, it is too loose.

I'd bet on a bad bearing or spring in the auto adjuster.

Both adjusters on these are stationary -- got to be adjusted by hand.

Could be the spring is weak in the tensioner itself. Could be the bearing on the alternator is bad ... hard to tell without an in person diagnostic...

no spring on the tensioner.

My bets are on the little idler that is on the tensioner. You can get one from the dealer for relatively cheap.
