Insurance Value of Intrepid ES 3.5 Hi Output 2003

Hi

I was rear-ended by a truck pulling a horsebox (with horse!) in a white-out of blowing snow - I had to stop because someone was in the road stuck in the snow in front of me.

Rear bumper destroyed, tail light vaporized, trunk lid bent, fin snapped off, body on rear quarter by gas fill bent, exhaust bracket snapped off so exhaust on the ground. Also pushed in some of the body behind the rear bumper. The car is 2003 and has 244,000 KM and in is Nova Scotia Canada. My guess is that it will be totaled and I'm wondering if anyone has a guess at an insurance settlement value or advise on getting best compensation for the loss?

Thanks for any help

My 2002 SXT with 265k km's was totalled out in June 2013 and the insurance company initially offered me $1650 for the car. After a long war (2 months+) I ended up getting $3600 because of all the mods I had done. Good luck with your car, we're in different parts of the country but I think you'd be lucky to get $2k for the car.

Hi thanks for the info. Sounds like I should make a list of all the new parts!

I had sunk over $2.5k in repair parts alone into my car 6 months before it was totalled. The insurance company didn't care at all about that. They said that it didn't increase the value of the vehicle, that was just regular upkeep. What saved me was the mods I installed and a friend that provided receipts indicating what was installed.

Hi,

just to complete the story, I ended up with about $2,500 which is a lot better than I expected. The bodywork wasn't in great shape with some pretty heavy rust in one of the back wheel arches (fully repaired 3 years ago - snow, ice and salt in Nova Scotia is a big problem) and rust underneath. Hmm so what now??

Thanks for the thoughts
