Sad Somebody help me! My engine is gone!

My car is a 2000 Dodge Intrepid, V6 2.7L. mileage: 146000,
I drived it without engine oil check, so my engine is gone.
I bought this car for 4000, and now replace a engine cost me 4000,
What should I do?

LOl sorry to sound like an ass but u drove it without oil?

At this point, u can get an engine swap or just buy another car.

4000? I would first be looking for another mechanic. what a rip off. the engine itself is probably $1000 max and labour can only be $100/h at max.. the job is only 12 hours. $4000 ... wow.. what a crazy ripoff that is. Granted they're not identicle, but my I removed and replaced the engine in my first gen (red) in 10 hours. I cannot see how $4000 is justified.

depending on where he is in the world, 2.7l replacement motors are very expensive for rebuilt units. i've seen 1200-2400 per engine.

where are you located?

There are a couple of people on this site that will do a 3.2/3.5 conversion for far less.

2400.. ripoff. unless it had 20,000kms on it, that is a complete rip. the dealer charges 4000 for a *new 2.7 installed..

If they get a $3000 crate engine, plus $75/hr in labor for 12hrs you end up with roughly $4000... Its not an outrageous price, but its a heck of a lot higher than I would ever pay.

Especially for an engine that blow up again in the next 100,000 miles. (unless thoroughly taken care of.)

I can set you up with a guy that will, and he is good, I'd verify his work.
Where are you in relation to Reading? email me - [email protected] if you want further info.

Maybe that $4000 cost includes paying someone to check the oil in the motor on a regular basis. Doesn't take a psychic to figure out what'll happen when you don't check the oil in any motor, let alone on a 2.7L.
